Silver Puck Challenge V - 2009

[aea_logos/img_spcv_logo.png]Silver Puck Challenge V would be played without women teams, but there was still plenty of action on the ice. We would also see a slight drop in the number teams being a part of the event. Going from 20 teams at SPCIV to 18 teams in SPCV.

Competitive Edge (Jon Byker) would eventually find their way into the winner circle, winning their first ever SPC title. It was a hard fought championship game would mark the end of Fredonia's (Tom Briggs) reign in the A Bracket. A new era of dominance would begin for the boys of Competitive Edge.

Speaker City (Mike Baker) would also claim their first Silver Puck Challenge championship and it would be in the B+ Bracket. RVO (Brant Morgan) would move up to the B+ Bracket and give it good show, but would fall to tough team from Kalamazoo, Michigan.

San Marcos (Brad Stegenga, aka S&S Carpet) would make their second of many more appearances in the B Bracket, unfortunately they would fall again in the finals, this time it would be to Walker Ice & Fitness (Jon Perz).

This tournament also marked the first time we used beer/liquor inspired logos for our tournament logos.

We apologize for the documentation for Silver Puck Challenge V, if you have information to help assist us in filling in the gaps, pictures or details for the weekend, please forward them on. Thank you.

" I had a blast playing in the tournament and can't wait to play again next year. Love the salary cap makes the game more competitive and fun. Great group of people. "
