Dave 'Rooster' Rue was inducted into the AEA Hall of Fame on June 2, 2017, a beloved official in the greater Grand Rapids area, Dave worked a large majority of Silver Puck Challenge games. Always a fan favorite, because while he was officiating, he added his own color commentating/play by play as the game were in progress. He always had a smile on and off the ice, always stood by his calls and was fair while handing out minutes to the sin bin. A trophy was constructed in his name and is the center piece of the COED Bracket. After his passing in 2017 the COED Bracket had an official name change, it is now known as the "Rooster Cup" in honor of the man that shared so much love and respect to the men and women of hockey, on and off the ice.
