AEA Player Watch

The AEA wants to make sure our events are not only fun and competitive . . . but also safe for all participants.

aea player watch

Use the form below to inform us of participants that are not participating in the spirit in which our tournaments/events are intended to be. The form is 100% anonymous. If you do not know the participants name or Player ID; please provide game time and team name and we will research the situation.

Starting in 2024 we added the AEA Player Watch system to our tournaments. The AEA Player Watch system is a place where participants and staff can submit other participants that display poor sportsmanship and/or unacceptable conduct while at our events. Below you will see the process and consequences of being placed on the AEA Player Watch list. Participants on the Watch List will be notified of their status. Their status will not be shared publicly, with the exception of their team's captain. Select infractions prior to 2024 will be ignored and all participants coming into Silver Puck Challenge XX (2024) were given a clean record.

watch

  • The AEA Commissioner, staff and/or participants have submitted a player to be watched regarding on and/or off ice conduct.
  • Participants receiving Game Misconducts and/or being removed from a game will automatically be placed on "Watch".
  • The submitted participant will remain on the list for one (1) year.
  • After a year of good behavior the player "may" come off the list.
  • Participants with chronic negativity, complaints and/or consistent dissatisfaction of events and outcomes "may" remain on the list longer than a year.
  • We have to be understanding to "one off" moments versus "habitual" offenders.

yellow | caution

  • The AEA Commissioner and on-ice officials are the only people that can escalate the status of a participant that is on "Watch" to a "Yellow | Caution" status.
  • A review of the situation will take place. Most likely the participant will be able to participate in their next game. They should proceed with caution.
  • A participant will remain on "Yellow | Caution" list for one (1) year.
  • After a year of good behavior the player "may" have their status reduced to "Watch".

red | game suspension

  • The AEA Commissioner is the only person that can escalate the status of a participant that is on "Yellow | Caution" to a "Red | Game Suspension" status.
  • A review of the situation will take place. Participants involved will be notified.
  • This status is given to any participant receiving two (2) "Yellow | Caution" statuses within a year.
  • The one (1) game suspension will carry over from tournament to tournament.
  • The participant must serve a one (1) game suspension before returning to any AEA tournament game.
  • After the participant serves their one (1) game suspension they will be allowed to return to AEA with the AEA to a "Red | Caution" status.

red | caution

  • The AEA Commissioner is the only person that can escalate the status of a participant that is on "Red | Game Suspension" to a "Red | Caution" status.
  • The participant has served their one (1) game suspension and is allowed to participate in future AEA tournament games.
  • The participant will remain on the "Red | Caution" list indefinitely; even with no other future infractions. This status can only be escalated.
  • This is the "no going back" point of the disciplinary process. At this point the participant is considered a "habitual" offender. The participant has escalated through three (3) disciplinary stages within a year.
    *Watch (1), Yellow | Caution (2) & Game Suspension (3)

red | circuit suspension

  • The AEA Commissioner is the only person that can escalate the status of a participant that is on "Red | Caution" to a "Red | Circuit Suspension" status.
  • A review of the situation will take place. Participants involved will be notified.
  • This status is given to any participant receiving their third (3) "Yellow | Caution" status.
  • The participant must serve a one (1) year suspension before returning to any AEA tournament; which means they will be suspended and not allowed to participate in any AEA tournaments including the tournament they received their third (3) "Red | Caution" in.
  • After the participant serves their one (1) year suspension they will be allowed to return to AEA with a "Black | Caution" status.

black | caution

  • The AEA Commissioner is the only person that can escalate the status of a participant that is on "Red | Circuit Suspension" to a "Black | Caution" status.
  • The participant has served their one (1) year suspension and is allowed to participate in future AEA tournament games.
  • The participant will remain on the "Black | Caution" list indefinitely; even with no other future infractions.

black | lifetime ban

  • The AEA Commissioner is the only person that can escalate the status of a participant that is on "Black | Caution" to a "Black | Lifetime Ban" status.
  • A review of the situation will take place. Participants involved will be notified.
  • This status is given to any participant having the "Black | Caution" status and/or receiving their fourth (4) "Yellow | Caution". This participant has already served a game and a year suspension from the AEA; when the new infraction was attained.
  • The participant is no longer allowed to participate and/or be present at any AEA tournament or event.
  • An instant "Black | Lifetime Ban" status will be given to any participant caught/proven to have any involvement in vandalism, theft and/or assault against any individual, tournament officials/staff and/or the facility. On-ice altercations will be reviewed; as mutual combat will not be considered assault. Additional charges may be pressed against the individuals if necessary.

critical notes

  • Any status can be bypassed and/or escalated at any point; pending a situational review.
  • One Year is defined as 13 months. This is to ensure a participants misses a full year of AEA tournaments/events.
