Aric "Uncle Rico" Geerlings has been inducted into the AEA Hall of Fame
aric "uncle rico" geerlingsAric has been a participating in the AEA since the mid-2000s. He would claim his first AEA title at Silver Puck Challenge IX (2013) in a come from behind, overtime, shootout win over the Gong Show (5-4, OTS; Formerly the Davenport University, 3x National Champions team). The following year team SPC would keep the the foot on the gas and cruise to their second championship in row with a 5-2 win over Speaker City at Silver Puck Challenge X (2014).
In 2019 at Silver Puck Challenge XV; Aric would once again find himself competing with team SPC on Championship Sunday. This time it would be a 6-2 win over Red, White & Brew. Aric currently has four (4) Silver Puck Challenge trophies on the mantel at home.
In 2021, Aric would play in his first Dekes & Dangles pond hockey tournament at FTK Ice Center. He would participate in the 30+ Bracket at Dekes & Dangles VI and once again add another piece of hardware to the trophy case. He would follow up his 2021 performance with another D&D 30+ title at Dekes & Dangles VII in the winter of 2022.
Aric is still looking to join and participate in his first Hockey Hold'em tournament. A Hockey Hold'em championship is the final piece of hardware needed to become an AEA All Around Champion.
Aric is also known from delivering some of the highest level and quality off ice/locker room moments in AEA history. His "rotation" game is the envy of many beer league hockey players. We don't know many guys that would bring a chair into the post game shower, sit, chat and enjoy a few "pops" for well over an hour. He has also given us some of the most memorable quotes along the way; "3, 2, 1, Rotate", "Time to get Horizontal" and "I just went 6 to Midnight".

The AEA has been bringing adult "beer league" hockey tournaments to west Michigan for over 20 years. Established in 2005, we have delivered some of the most competitive and unique tournament formats to the state. Our goal is to insure that all teams have the same opportunities to compete and win.
