Stu McLean has been inducted into the AEA Hall of Fame.
1st Ballot AEA Hall of Fame Induction (2019)
Stu McLean was inducted into the AEA Hall of Fame on June 1st, 2019.
Stu has been playing in the Silver Puck Challenge for hot minute now and he has collected a few titles along the way. One of these titles would be very special to Stu and the DM REDDOGS squad.
Stu would win his first SPC title at Silver Puck Challenge X (2014) with win over the heavily motivated WIFC club. It would be at Silver Puck Challenge XIII (2017) where Stu captained and/or played for three teams in search for a cup or two for his father (Denny McLean) whom passed the week prior.
The first weeknd of SPCXIII was a busy one, he would play for DM REDDOGS (Jonkman) and captain of the DM REDDOGS (VanValkenburg). Stu would fall short in the Jonkman Cup finals against Torque, it would be an exciting overtime finish (5-4). He would move down the hall and sit with the boys on the DM REDDOGS (VanValkenburg) club. Many of the boys on the squad were coached by Denny in their younger years. This game was a game of literal inches. We would go through three (3) periods of hockey with no resolution. Stu's squads were no going to be in two overtime games in the same day. This time it would the DM REDDOGS (VanValkenburg) boys to taking home the title over FTKz in a shootout (2-1). Stu was able to deliver on his mission to bring home a cup for his father. It was a very emotional ending to the first weekend of SPCXIII. Stu still had not risen a cup for himself yet. The final of SPCXIII would bring Stu to the final stage of the JEMC. This time he would be part of the victory in a back and forth, run and gun show with Relay for Life. They would get the empty netter and clinch the victory (4-2). Stu would lead three (3) teams the finals in 2017, claiming two titles along the way. Stu's latest title would come at Dekes & Dangles III in the B Bracket. Stu would play with FTKz, where they would be sent to the losers bracket and fight their way back to the top. They would complete their journey beating WIFC, back-to-back in the final set of the weekend. The would win the final game of the weekend 13-12 in overtime. Stu was a first ballot inductee into the AEA Hall of Fame. (26.07% of the Votes)
